Directions

This small rural settlement is between Heidelberg and Riversdale; 30 km towards the coast and 10km from the river mouth at at Puntjie. The Duivenshok river is between the Breede river (west) and the Goukou River(east) at Stillbaai. The hamlet is 300 km from Cape Townand 140 km from George.

From Cape Town (300km) travel on the N2.

50km after Swellendam and 3km before Heidelberg turn right at a sign post “Port Beauford, Witsands” ( Ignore a similar sign 30km before)

After 6km turn left onto a dirt road sign posted “Vermaaklikheid”.

14km later turn left at a T-junction. Cross the river over a causeway.

At the next T-junction turn right

After 9km , you come to a hamlet of scattered cottages.

RIVER MAGIC signage will lead you to BACK TRACK and BASE HUIS

Signage to GLORY BE leads along a farm track and through two gates. At the parking area a blue boat is tied to the bottom of some steps at the riverside. Row across the river to the 2nd house upstream.
Note: Arrive in enough daylight to cross the river and bring a torch

Occasionally the river is flooded at the causeway. Return to the N2 and drive to Riversdale and from there to Vermaaklikheid( this adds 45 minutes to the journey)

From George(140km)travel on the N2
Turn left at the “Vermaaklikheid” sign opposite the entrance to Riversdale 35 km on a dirt road.
