On the banks of the Duivenshok River on the southern coast of South Africa, lies a sleepy little hamlet called Vermaaklikheid. A special hideaway untouched by time and “progress”. A place where one can escape from the pressures of modern living and where body and soul can be restored. We offer three beautiful, fully equipped, self catering cottages, for nature lovers and adventurers. The rustic facilities are thoughtful and tasteful to provide simple comfortable and easy holiday living. The unique architecture is in keeping with the indigenous buildings of this charming little hamlet. NOTE: The water front in all three housed is unguarded and not suitable for unsupervised children Dogs are allowed, provided they are well behaved and friendly and do not chase or harass wild or domestic animals, or sleep on the furniture. |

The Duivenshok Estuary and its surrounds is one of the last remaining pristine estuaries in South Africa. The Duivenshok Conservancy has been established to preserve its unique character. The area is also a Nature Conservation Protectorate. It is required that residents and visitors adhere to the rules and guidance of both bodies. (No speeding or water sports allowed).... more
